Today we have some truly sad news with another huge blow to the music & live events industry. The 50 year old Glastonbury Music festival, which is home to not only hundreds of artists but also to around 200,000 people every year, has been cancelled once again due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Glastonbury was also cancelled last year due to COVID-19 and tickets where rolled over in hopes that the 2021 edition of the festival would go ahead. Sadly it will not be going ahead this year and tickets rolled over or bought this year will be rolled over for 2022 when the event should hopefully take place.

The announcement was made on Glastonbury’s Official Social Media:

With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us. Tickets for this year will roll over to next year. Full statement below and on our website. Michael & Emily

With this announcement & many other events due to take place such as My Chemical Romance’s UK return in June, as well as Green Day’s The Hella Mega Tour, Download Festival and Reading & Leeds Festival due to take place before or around the same time as Glastonbury, this may be the first signs of cancellations & reschedules of these events as well. Although this is yet to be confirmed.

With the UK rolling out vaccines and with the Governments goal of having vaccinations out to everyone around the country by September, we may not expect live events to realistically continue until late Autumn or even next year at the latest.

We look forward to the return of live events & it saddens us here at RLUK to witness live events take such a massive hit, but we do keep our spirits high in the hopes that we will all be together again partying with our favourite artists.

We will release more news about event cancellations or reschedules throughout the year and if anymore information comes to light about this particular event, this article will be updated.
