Nottingham Rock Act, As December Falls, has dropped a brand new single ‘Tears’ from their upcoming album ‘Happier’ set for release on August 6th 2021.
Today is the first time that we’ve heard a track by As December Falls and we was not only pleasantly surprised but also blown away by the vocal powerhouse that is Bethany Hunter. Each of the band members compliment each other to create a punchy sound that’ll leave you craving for more.
Hunter spoke about what the new track is all about:
“Tears is about struggling internally and trusting in yourself to overcome it. The song started years ago when I was in a bad place, I was lying in bed crying when I realised that I literally had tears running into my ear. I picked myself up and knew that I needed to help myself and turned the experience into this song.
The lyric in the middle 8 “God knows that I need saving but I don’t want your help, heaven knows I need no saviour cause I can only save myself” really sums up the song.” – Bethany Hunter
In 2014 when the band formed they was all told that they where “too this” and “too that” when it fact it should’ve been you’re too god damn awesome! Fast forward to 2019, the band released their self-titled album (which has received over 4million streams) and with their years of experience & business know-how resulted in the band selling 90% of their shows on their most recent headline tour, also appearing at Slam Dunk Festival, Tramlines Festival, Camden Rocks and more.
The band is composed by a group of extremely talented musicians. As December Falls is composed of Ande (Guitar), Timmy (Bass), Bethany (Vocals) and Luke (Drums), all of which come together to create an awesome sound like no other, but each of them take inspiration from rock icons.
Ranging from the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Slash, Blink 182, Sum-41, Fall Out Boy, Basement, Turnover and Citizen. All of these inspirations can be heard throughout the new album.
As December Falls is Bethany Hunters first band that she has been apart of and to help her channel her powerful voice, she looks up to some iconic female rock stars such as Joan Jett and Marmozets, only to name a few. However, despite taking the inspiration from these stars, Hunter & the band have their own unique sound that makes them stand out, which is rare to find.
In addition to these awesome inspirations, the new album was recorded with the legend John Mitchell who is known for his work with Architects, You Me At Six & Enter Shikari, the album itself is said to be recorded at Outhouse Studios in Reading, England.
Overall, the new single is stunning & is one of the best releases that we’ve heard so far this year. We cannot wait to hear the new album ‘Happy’ in August, we are sure upon playing, it’ll be like blowing up a power station kinda cool.
